CD70, a cell surface protein belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily. CD70 is the ligand for the receptor CD27. In normal physiology, the CD70-CD27 interaction provides a co-stimulatory signal for T-cell and B-cell activation. However, in many hematologic and solid tumors, CD70 is aberrantly and highly expressed on cancer cells, including leukemia stem cells. This expression can promote tumor cell survival, proliferation, and immunosuppression.
