Imalumab (development code BAX-069) is an investigational, fully human monoclonal antibody developed for the treatment of solid tumors and inflammatory conditions. It functions as a targeted inhibitor of Oxidized Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor (oxMIF). By binding with high affinity to a specific oxidized isoform of the MIF cytokine, imalumab selectively neutralizes its pathogenic activity. This blockade prevents oxMIF from interacting with its receptors, CD74 and CXCR2/4, thereby inhibiting the downstream pro-inflammatory and pro-tumorigenic signaling pathways that promote cancer cell survival, proliferation, angiogenesis, and immune evasion, as well as chronic inflammation.
