Iratumumab (development code MDX-060) is an investigational, human anti-CD30 immunoglobulin G1 kappa (IgG1κ) monoclonal antibody developed for the treatment of CD30-expressing lymphomas. It functions as a targeted immunotherapeutic agent against the CD30 antigen. By binding with high affinity to CD30 on the surface of tumor cells, iratumumab exerts its antitumor effects through multiple potential mechanisms.

Function

CD30, also known as TNFRSF8. CD30 is a transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) superfamily. It is a well-defined diagnostic and therapeutic marker that is highly and consistently expressed on the malignant Reed-Sternberg cells of classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) and on the tumor cells of systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma (sALCL). Its expression in normal tissues is very limited, making it an ideal tumor-specific target.
