Product Description

Talacotuzumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting CD123 (interleukin-3 receptor alpha, IL-3Rα), a surface protein overexpressed on leukemic stem cells and blasts in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and other hematologic malignancies. It binds to CD123 to block IL-3 signaling and may also engage immune effector functions. It was investigated for the treatment of relapsed/refractory AML and myelodysplastic syndromes.

Function

CD123, is involved in cell proliferation and survival of malignant hematopoietic cells. Talacotuzumab's binding to CD123 aimed to inhibit leukemic growth and promote antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). However, clinical development was discontinued due to limited efficacy and significant toxicity, including cytokine release syndrome and hematologic adverse events in trials.
