Ecleralimab developed by Novartis, is an investigational, inhaled antiasthmatic biologic therapy. Unlike most monoclonal antibodies, it is engineered as a monovalent Fab (antigen-binding fragment) antibody, a smaller format chosen for enhanced lung tissue penetration when delivered via inhalation. Its mechanism of action centers on being a potent and selective thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) inhibitor. By neutralizing TSLP in the airways, Ecleralimab aims to block a key upstream cytokine that initiates and drives multiple inflammatory pathways central to asthma pathophysiology.
