Ephrin type-A receptor 3 (EphA3), a member of the largest family of receptor tyrosine kinases. Eph receptors and their ephrin ligands play crucial roles in cell-cell communication, tissue patterning, and neuronal development during embryogenesis. In adults, EphA3 expression is generally low or absent in most normal tissues but is frequently overexpressed or reactivated in a variety of solid tumors, including glioblastoma, lung cancer, melanoma, and ovarian cancer.
