Oloctinebart is a humanized monoclonal antibody that specifically targets galectin-3 (Gal-3, encoded by the LGALS3 gene), a β-galactoside-binding lectin involved in multiple pathological processes. By binding to galectin-3, oloctinebart blocks its interaction with ligands, thereby inhibiting its pleiotropic functions in inflammation, fibrosis, immune modulation, and tumor progression. It is being developed as a potential therapeutic for galectin-3-driven diseases, including fibrotic disorders (e.g., non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, pulmonary fibrosis), certain cancers, and chronic inflammatory conditions.
