Roledumab is a human IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody targeting RhD antigen (CD240D). It binds specifically to the RhD protein on red blood cells, primarily used for the prevention of hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) in RhD-negative pregnant women exposed to RhD-positive fetal blood.

Function

RhD (CD240D), is a major antigen on red blood cells. By binding to RhD-positive fetal red cells that have entered the maternal circulation, roledumab facilitates their clearance by the maternal immune system before an immune response is mounted, thereby preventing the production of harmful anti-RhD antibodies that could affect future pregnancies.
