Product Description

Zolbetuximab (IMAB-362) is a chimeric monoclonal antibody that targets Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2), a tight junction protein isoform. It is approved and indicated for the treatment of CLDN18.2-positive, HER2-negative, locally advanced or metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. As an IgG1 antibody, it induces tumor cell death primarily through antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC).

Function

Claudin 18.2 is a stomach-specific isoform of the Claudin tight junction protein family that maintains epithelial barrier integrity. Normally confined to gastric mucosal epithelial cells, it becomes widely exposed on the cell surface in many gastric and pancreatic cancers due to disruption of tight junctions during malignant transformation. This restricted normal tissue expression and frequent tumor exposure make it an ideal target for antibody-based therapies.
