AXL is a member of the TAM (TYRO3, AXL, MERTK) family of receptors and is overexpressed in a wide variety of solid tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), ovarian cancer, and pancreatic cancer. Its overexpression is frequently associated with aggressive disease, poor prognosis, metastasis, and resistance to multiple therapies (including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy).
