Idactamab is an investigational, immunoglobulin G1 kappa (IgG1-κ) monoclonal antibody being developed for the treatment of hematological malignancies. It functions as a targeted inhibitor of the amino acid transporter SLC1A5, also known as ASCT2 (Alanine, Serine, Cysteine Transporter 2). By binding with high affinity to SLC1A5/ASCT2 on the surface of cancer cells, idactamab blocks its transporter activity. This inhibition deprives malignant cells of critical nutrients, particularly glutamine, which is essential for their rapid proliferation, energy production (through anaplerosis of the TCA cycle), and biosynthesis of proteins and nucleotides.
