Function

AXL is a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase belonging to the TAM (TYRO3, AXL, MERTK) family. It is activated by its ligand Gas6 (Growth arrest-specific protein 6), leading to dimerization and autophosphorylation. AXL signaling promotes cell survival, proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).
